About The Award
What is it?
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the musical has wowed audiences since it opened in 2013 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. During the show, the audience are transported into the wondrous world of Willy Wonka's Factory in this 'lavish feast for the eyes'.
Incredible designers, from costume to lighting, to automation and set, have all worked together to bring the well-known story to life! With design such an important element of the show, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory team now want to find the next generation of theatre designers!
The Young Theatre Designer Award was an opportunity for people aged 13-21 to submit original design ideas for the hit musical and be in with a chance to meet the award-winning creative team.
How does it work?
The Young Theatre Designer Award is split into two separate categories, set and costume design.
Entries will be judged in two age categories: 13 - 18 and 19 - 21.
